Never Forget ...

Whaddya think??

Hopefully it's noticed that I changed the way things look here.   What do you think?  Worth keeping??

I'm kind of liking the way it looks.  I might still change the fonts though.  Not sure if I want a hand written look or  if that would be too hard to read.

Decisions Decisions.

What Women Want ...

This is the AGE old question.  Asked from generation to generation, and yet it's never been figured out.  From a man's perspective anyway.

And while I can't speak for EVERY single woman in the world .. I'm sure a vast majority would agree with the points I'm about to make.  Gentlemen ... pay attention.

1.  Love.  Women don't just WANT love, we NEED love.  And I'm not just talking about the act of making love.  I'm talking about love in general.  Hold her hand while you're walking down the street.  Tell her you love her at random times during the day.  Choose to sit next to her instead of across from her when you go out to eat.  It's the little things that keep us happy.  Trust me on this.  The big, extravagant displays of affection, while much appreciated, aren't always necessary.

2. Trust.  Women need to not only be trusted, but desperately need to be able to trust.  The minute that we feel we can't trust you, you're doomed.  The relationship is doomed.  Don't keep secrets.  About anything.

3. Space.  Women love to cuddle (I know I do) and be close with our spouse (or significant other) however, we also like some time to ourselves.  No kids, no husbands.  Just for a sense of rejuvenation if nothing else.  There's a lot that goes in to being a wife and a mother.  Remember that.

4. Appreciation.  Women NEED to feel appreciated.  Like I said above, there is a LOT that goes in to being a wife and a mother.  Add even more if you're a wife and a mother that holds a full time job outside of the home.  Let us know that you appreciate what we're doing and how we're doing it.  A little 'thank-you' here and there would be much obliged.

5. To be needed.  Women want, .. no .. NEED to be needed.  Tell us everyday, that you need us.  Whether you think we already know this or not.  It's nice to hear it once in a while.

I'm sure there's MUCH more that could be added to this list.  And I'm sure, at some point, I'll add to it.  But for now, it's a good starting place.

Take note boys ...

Heartbroken

That's what I am right now.

Before my family moved to Oregon, my grandmother gave my daughter a snow globe.  It was in the shape of a heart, and on the inside of the globe were two birds that were kind of intertwined.  And in true snow globe fashion, there was glitter.  Lots and lots of glitter.

Shortly after my family moved to Oregon, my grandmother, the very same one that gave my daughter this snow globe, lost her short lived battle with glioblastoma.  My entire family was devestated, naturally.  But my daughter, seemed to take it extra hard.  She's a soft soul, my daughter, and she tends to be very emotional about certain things.

Since my grandmother passed away (we just so happen to be coming up on the one year anniversary of her passing) my daughter has cherished this snow globe.  It's been sitting in various different places in her bedroom.  For a while it was on her window sill .. very close to the head of her bed.  She said it helped her to remember GG before she went to sleep.

More recently it was on her bookcase.  Proudly displayed among other little girl trinkets.  She would stare at it for hours sometimes, and tell me how much she missed her GG, and how when she looked at the snow globe .. she flet closer to her.

Tonight .. my daughters prized possession .. shattered.  She was trying to clean up in her room, and somehow .. she knocked the snow globe right off of her dresser.  Something that's happend a hundred times before.  It's never been hurt before .. but tonight, it shattered into a thousand pieces.  Water, glitter, and glass littered her bedroom floor.  But the thing that broke my heart .. is the tears that flowed from my baby's eyes.  This is something I can't replace.  I can't go out and buy her a new one to make it all better.

My heart is much like the snow globe .. in a thousand pieces and can't be mended.
